Painting, Mixed Media
I started creating playful mixed-media pieces over ten years ago but kept most of them in my closet. Cutting things with scissors, painting with large tools like spatulas and palette knives, and using simple implements like white glue and Sharpies, I create pieces based on the turn of a phrase, or a particularly compelling group of things that don't really go together at first glance. I also love painting outdoors "en plein air," and imagining who/what else was there.
A lifetime artist and graphic designer, I delved deep into painting and mixed media/ collage five years ago. I have been a part of several large-scale public projects, creating one of twelve prairie dogs for the Town of Superior, and revitalizing a fence with three other local artists for the North Boulder Arts District during Arts Week 2023. Originally from the Midwest, I have been living, working and raising a family around the Boulder, Colorado area since 1998.
